Elevating Barehand Live Working in Indonesia with Electrostatics Suit
Electrostatics is committed to expanding the reach of its existing product portfolio to regions previously untouched by its specialized suit for barehand live working.
After an extensive preparatory phase, we successfully partnered with KWJ, a distributor in Indonesia, to introduce our conductive suits in one of the world’s most densely populated countries and the fourth largest by population. As a result of this cooperation, the Electrostatics suit will be applied to the grid of PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara), Indonesia’s state-owned utility company. PLN is responsible for electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. This strategic move opens immense potential for advancing safe working practices in a critical market.
In spring 2024, we hosted a series of online conferences (previously mentioned on LinkedIn) to introduce our technology and share insights into its application. Since then, Electrostatics has shipped multiple suits to Indonesia for field testing and evaluation. Our Indonesian partners have rigorously tested these suits across various sites and types of electrical maintenance work. The results have been overwhelmingly positive, validating the suits’ effectiveness in diverse operational settings.
The subsequent step was a significant one: in September 2024, Electrostatics conducted a crucial on-site training led by an experienced Hungarian lineman and barehand work trainer in Indonesia. This practical and theoretical training was pivotal as it allowed our partners to test the suits under controlled conditions at the highest voltage levels (up to 500 kV), ensuring that every scenario was covered and that the suits performed to the highest standards.
The core message of our efforts is clear: by adopting Electrostatics’ garments, which fully comply with the current IEC 60895:2020 standard, PLN is elevating barehand live working to a new level. These suits not only meet but exceed the necessary requirements to ensure worker safety during live working tasks, providing enhanced protection against the rigorous demands of the field. Furthermore, these conductive suits have an ATPV value that protects linemen up to 11 cal/cm2 arc energy – which exceeds the requirements of the IEC 61482 standard
This advancement in safety suit represents a significant leap forward for Indonesia’s electrical industry, positioning the country as a leader in adopting cutting-edge technologies for high-risk operations.
